AI simplification

The goal of AI simplification is to let you read actual content but at your level.

Saved words can be included in the simplified article

One hidden feature of AI simplification is that, if you have saved any words that are not yet learned, they could be included in the simplification. So, they might appear in the article in some form when the AI decides it's appropriate. It's not going to force words that don't fit into the simplified text.

Only words that have never been suggested or were suggested more than 7 days ago are included. We're also excluding already learned words (strength = 5).

The criteria for selecting the saved words for inclusion is the following (in that order):

  1. never suggested or suggested more than 7 days ago
  2. strength (0-4) — weakest first
  3. last suggested for inclusion least recently suggest first
  4. last read least recently read first
  5. created at — oldest first

How accurate is it to use AI for simplifying articles?

It’s hard to say precisely because it depends on the language you’re studying. But yes, a few small mistakes can appear from time to time (as of 2025 the top system achieved already 99.1% accuracy - but that's for any usage not simplified language). However, we're using simplified language, so, for the major languages it's near perfect.

Note that this does not affect the word translations and explanations. Even if the sentence translations are slightly inaccurate sometimes, the words are still real words and the AI will translate individual words as accurately as possible.

Human texts are usually not 100% accurate either, so, there's no need to expect this from the AI.
